The final auction bidding for the selection of projects for the construction of WPP in Kazakhstan were held this year
On November 21, 2023, auctions were held for the selection of renewable energy wind power station projects for the Northern Zone of the UES of the Republic of Kazakhstan with a total installed capacity of 100 MW.
5 companies were allowed to participate in the auction, 4 price offers were submitted by the participants during the trading session. The total volume of applications submitted was 310.001 MW.
The starting maximum auction price was 22.68 tg/kWh (excluding VAT). The price range of applications decreased from 22.68 to 10.38 tg/kWh (excluding VAT).
According to the results of the auction, the winner was determined by the company – LLP «Hengist», the installed capacity of the project is 10.001 MW, the auction price is 10.38 tg/kWh (without VAT). The project is planned to be placed in the Abai region, the Northern zone of the UES of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The unsatisfied capacity was 89.999 MW.
Representatives of the ALE «Kazakhstan Electric Power Association» and USAID took part as observers. Observers noted the full transparency of the electronic trading system of the auction organizer – JSC «KOREM».
It should be noted that according to the auction Schedule, 7 auctions were held this year according to the type of wind power plants with a total capacity of 500 MW. According to the results of the WPP auctions, the price was reduced by more than two times from the starting price, and the lowest price was 10.38 tg/Kwh (excluding VAT).
The next auction is scheduled for November 22, 2023 for the selection of projects for the construction of small HPP for the Northern and Southern zones of the UES of the Republic of Kazakhstan with a total installed capacity of 30 MW.
