Results of centralized trading of electric capacity in the West Kazakhstan and Atyrau regions of the Western zone of the UEN of the Republic of Kazakhstan

On November 21, 2021, «KOREM» JSC held centralized auctions of electric power in the West Kazakhstan and Atyrau regions of the Western zone of the UEN of the Republic of Kazakhstan, taking into account the capacity of power transmission lines connecting the West Kazakhstan and Atyrau regions of the Western Zone of the UEN of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the Mangistau region of the Western zone of the UEN of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The following initial parameters were provided to JSC «KOREM» by a Single buyer and a System operator for centralized trading of electric power:

  • The projected demand for electric power in the West Kazakhstan and Atyrau regions of the Western zone of the UEN of the Republic of Kazakhstan is 342 MW;
  • The capacity of power transmission lines connecting the West Kazakhstan and Atyrau regions of the Western zone of the UEN of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the Mangistau region of the Western zone of the UEN of the Republic of Kazakhstan is 130 MW.

The maximum tariff for the service for maintaining the availability of electric power is 590 thousand tenge/MW per month (excluding VAT).

6 energy-producing organizations took part in centralized auctions of electric capacity.

Representatives of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Association of Legal Entities «Kazakhstan Electric Power Association» participated as observers at the centralized auctions of electric power.

According to the results of centralized trading of electric capacity, the total volume of sold capacity amounted to 342 MW. The number of transactions concluded in the trading system was 6.

The weighted average price according to the results of centralized trading of electric capacity was 586.77 thousand tenge/MW per month (excluding VAT).

The total volume of applications of energy-producing organizations submitted to the trading system amounted to 377 MW.
