On November 21 of this year, centralized auctions of electric capacity were held in the Mangystau region of the Western zone of the UEN of the Republic of Kazakhstan

On November 21, 2022, centralized auctions of electric capacity for the Mangistau region of the Western zone of the UEN of the Republic of Kazakhstan were held on the trading platform of «KOREM» JSC, taking into account the capacity of power transmission lines connecting the West Kazakhstan and Atyrau regions of the Western Zone of the UES of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the Mangistau region of the Western Zone of the UEN of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The following initial parameters were provided to JSC «KOREM» by a Single buyer and a System operator for centralized trading of electric power:

  • the projected demand for electric power in the Mangystau region of the Western zone of the UEN of the Republic of Kazakhstan is 484.5 MW;
  • the capacity of power transmission lines connecting the Mangystau region of the Western zone of the UEN of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the West Kazakhstan and Atyrau regions of the Western zone of the UEN of the Republic of Kazakhstan is 50 MW;

The maximum tariff for the service for maintaining the availability of electric power is 590 thousand tenge/MW per month (excluding VAT).

6 energy-producing organizations took part in centralized auctions of electric capacity.

According to the results of centralized auctions of electric capacity, the total volume of sold capacity amounted to 484.5 MW, including 434.5 MW in the Mangystau region and 50 MW in the West Kazakhstan and Atyrau regions of the Western zone of the UEN of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The number of transactions concluded in the trading system was - 3. The weighted average price according to the results of centralized trading of electric capacity was 588.97 thousand tenge/MW per month (excluding VAT).

The total volume of applications from energy-producing organizations submitted to the trading system amounted to 604 MW.

Representatives of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Association of Legal Entities «KAZENERGY» participated as observers at the centralized auctions of electric power.
