An «Open Day» for schoolchildren was held within the walls of KOREM

On January 17, 2024, on the basis of JSC "Kazakhstan electric energy and capacity market operator», an «Open Day» was held for students of the graduating class of the NURORDA Lyceum school.

The guests were greeted by Alexey Doronin, Managing Director for Strategy and Development. He conducted a tour, introduced the structural divisions of the Company and told about the main activities of the company. 

During the tour, Yerzhan Madiyev, Managing Director for Market Development and Trading System, told the young people about the electric power industry of Kazakhstan, about the functioning of the electricity market. A short film about the company's history was also shown to the guests.   

Also, Director of the Balancing Electricity Market Department Aknur Shagyrbaeva  introduced the guests to the new model of the wholesale electricity market and the functions of the settlement center of the balancing electricity market, which carries out the centralized purchase and sale of balancing electricity and negative imbalances in the balancing electricity market.

The final stage of the event was an excursion to the operational support sector, where the children were introduced to the trading system, the work of operators and clearly showed a map of the unified energy system of Kazakhstan.

During the tour, the guys were involved in asking interesting questions. Madi, the excursionist, shared his opinion: «I am very grateful for the tour, I learned a lot about the trade and movement of electricity in Kazakhstan and abroad, and much more. I am sure that the information will be useful to me in the future, since the profession I chose to study is an electrical engineer, which is directly related to electricity».

This practice of holding an «Open Day» for schoolchildren is part of a social, professional orientation event. Which helps in the future when choosing a profession, to form an idea of responsibility, the relevance of the profession and work in the industry.
