Centralized auctions of electric power were held in the Northern and Southern zones of the UES of the Republic of Kazakhstan
On November 21, 2023, centralized auctions of electric capacity for the Northern and Southern zones of the UES of the Republic of Kazakhstan were held on the trading platform of JSC «KOREM» JSC, taking into account the North-South capacity.
The following initial parameters were provided to JSC «KOREM» by a Single buyer and a System operator for centralized trading of electric power:
- the projected demand for electric power in the Northern and Southern zones of the UES of the Republic of Kazakhstan is 6,738.2 MW, including 5,011 MW in the Northern zone of the UES of the Republic of Kazakhstan, 1,727.2 MW in the Southern zone of the UES of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
- the capacity of power transmission lines connecting the Northern and Southern zones of the UES RK is 1,100 MW.
To limit the unjustified increase in prices for electric power in the trading system, the marginal tariff for the service for maintaining the availability of electric power in the amount of 1,065 thousand tenge/MW per month (excluding VAT) was used, approved by the Order of the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated October 23, 2023 No. 376 «On amendments to the Order of the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated July 3, 2015 No. 465 «On approval of marginal tariffs for the service to maintain the availability of electric power».
22 energy-producing organizations took part in centralized auctions of electric capacity.
According to the results of centralized auctions of electric capacity, the total volume of sold capacity in the Northern and Southern zones of the UES of the Republic of Kazakhstan amounted to 6,738.2 MW, including 5,011 MW in the Northern zone of the UES of the Republic of Kazakhstan and 1,727.2 MW in the Southern zone of the UES of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The number of concluded transactions in the trading system was - 22. The weighted average price according to the results of centralized trading of electric capacity was 1 057.96 thousand tenge/MW per month (excluding VAT).
The total volume of applications of energy-producing organizations submitted to the trading system amounted to 8,068 MW.
The unrealized volume of the service for maintaining the availability of electric power amounted to 1,329.8 MW.
Representatives of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, JSC «KEGOC», ALE «Kazakhstan Electric Power Association» took part as observers at the centralized auctions of electric power.
