Centralized auctions of electric power in the Mangystau region of the Western zone of the UES of the Republic of Kazakhstan were held
On November 20, 2023 from 10:00 am on the trading platform of JSC «KOREM» centralized auctions of electric power in the Mangistau region of the Western zone of the UES of the Republic of Kazakhstan were held, taking into account the capacity towards the Mangistau power hub.
The following initial parameters were provided to JSC «KOREM» by a Single buyer and a System operator for centralized trading of electric power:
- the projected demand for electric power in the Mangystau region of the Western zone of the UES RK – 532.4 MW;
- the capacity of power transmission lines in the direction of the Mangystau power plant – 50 MW.
To limit unjustified price increases for electric power in the trading system the maximum tariff for the service of maintaining the availability of electric power in the amount of 1,065 thousand tenge/MW per month (excluding VAT) was used, approved by the Order of the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated October 23, 2023 No. 376 «On Amendments to the Order of the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated July 3, 2015 No. 465 «On approval of the maximum tariffs for service for maintaining the availability of electrical power».
5 energy - producing organizations took part in centralized auctions of electric capacity.
According to the results of centralized trading of electric capacity, the total volume of sold capacity amounted to 532.4 MW, including in the Mangystau region – 483.4 MW, in the West Kazakhstan and Atyrau regions of the Western zone of the UES RK – 49 MW. The number of concluded transactions in the trading system was – 3. The weighted average price according to the results of centralized trading of electric capacity was 1,064.3 thousand tenge/MW per month (excluding VAT).
The total volume of applications of energy-producing organizations submitted to the trading system amounted to 651 MW.
A representative of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan took part as an observer at the centralized auctions of electric power.
