Auction bidding for the selection of wind farm projects started with a record price drop
On November 13, 2023, auction bidding for the selection of renewable energy wind power station projects for the Northern Zone of the UES of the Republic of Kazakhstan with a total installed capacity of 100 MW started.
The maximum auction price approved by the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan during the auction for the selection of wind farm projects in 2023 was 22.68 tg/kWh (excluding VAT).
6 companies were allowed to participate in the auction, 18 price offers were submitted by the participants during the trading session. The total volume of applications submitted was 450 MW.
In the course of the competition at the auction among the auction participants, a reduction in the price range of applications from 22.68 to 10.5 tg/kWh (excluding VAT) was obtained.
It is noted that a record price reduction of 54% from the maximum auction price for the selection of projects for the construction of wind farms.
According to the results of the auction, the winner was determined by the company – LLP «SANGROW KAZAKHSTAN HOLDINGS», the installed capacity of the project is 100 MW, the auction price is 10.5 tg/kWh (without VAT). The project is planned to be placed in Kostanay region.
In order to comply with the requirements of the Rules for the Organization and Conduct of auctions, representatives participated as observers: Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, NCE «Atameken», ALE «Kazakhstan Electric Power Association», ALE RES Association «Qazaq Green».
The observers noted the holding of auctions in accordance with the approved regulatory legal acts and confirmed the transparency of the electronic trading system of the auction organizer - JSC «KOREM».
The next auction boddong is scheduled for November 14, 2023 for the selection of wind power station projects with a total installed capacity of 100 MW.

According to the Auction Schedule for 2023, approved by the Order of the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 187 dated May 23, 2023, the total installed capacity of auctions for the selection of RES projects in 2023 is 860 MW, of which:
- solar power plants (SPP) - 100 MW;
- wind power plants (WPP) - 500 MW;
- hydroelectric power plants (HPP) - 250 MW;
- biofuel power plants (BioPP) - 10 MW.
